Since the last update, I've been busy fixing all the bugs that I found and were reported by a few of you. Also fixed a bunch of cursors, and some of the newer features that were introduced in Version 4.0. There were also issues with the new CSP security policy that I set up. Plus a big website optimization that speeds things up over 100x on some benchmarks I ran.

What's Been Updated This Week:

  • Major website speed improvements
    • Apache benchmark shows over a 100x improvement after adding a new server cache layer.
    • I thought I had enabled CloudFlare caching (2nd layer cache), but it turns out nothing was actually being cached. Fixed. Now entire webpages are cached at the edge, so this should speed things up globally for everyone.
    • All images are now WebP. Smaller size means faster downloads. A week ago this was only animated cursors.
    • Improvements on mobile so everything loads faster.
    • Improved website CPU/GPU usage. The site should feel a lot smoother on slower computers.
  • Search improvements
    • Search is now more relevant for cursor sets.
    • "Newest" filter added to the search results.
    • Search is now the most popular page on the site. Now that it actually works, unlike V3.
    • I now have data for what keywords are being searched. Makes it easier to add the cursors that people want. For example, this week's #1 missing cursor was Kuromi, which I just made a quick cursor of.
  • Related Cursors Tab
    • Related cursors are now way more accurate. The 11th code rewrite finally got it to an acceptable level. It's still not perfect, but it's way more relevant than before.
  • UX Improvements
    • SHA-256 hash display with easy click-to-copy. I may disappear again for years, but at least you'll know you're downloading the correct files.
    • "Please Rate Me!" popup, because I don't think everyone knows you can rate the cursors. It's a one-time thing, won't bug you again.
    • 128x128 and under live previews.  If you can click on the different sizes on the cursor page, it should show you the live preview of each size you pick.
  • Bug Fixes
    • Cloudflare spam protection wasn't loading, so comments weren't going through all the time. Honestly, I'm not sure this is fully fixed yet. Not many people commenting, so it's hard to tell.
    • "Your Favorites" embed code wasn't linking to the right cursors and didn't populate the correct hotspot. Fixed.
    • Adult cursors weren't showing the placeholder image after I updated everything to WebP. Fixed.
    • Site-wide CSP was breaking the entire website. I was too premature with it. Now it's in report-only mode while I gather data for about a week. Then it'll be back on.
    • Fixed a trending data bug that was causing bad data.
    • Fixed a bunch of broken links to cursor files. Still more to go.
    • Rebuilt the AI auto-tags again (5th time) on all the cursors. Probably won't be the last time.
    • Fixed some annoying layout shifting issues.

Next Week's Priorities:

  • Embed code changes for different websites.
    • Tutorials on how to add custom cursors. Probably just Tumblr and Blogspot for now.
  • Need to manually fix categories and tags on some cursors.
  • Start adding fresh cursors on a regular basis.

And here are a few new cursors that were added. Kuromi, Firefly Set, and Equip Set were added today. The sets were always there for full download, but the pages themselves didn't show the full cursors for individual download.
